Fortnite Charge Shotgun vaulted in 14.40 update!

February 2023 · 2 minute read

Love it or hate it, it looks like the Charge Shotgun will be finding its way into the vault in the new 14.40 patch. When an item is vaulted in Fortnite, that means it will no longer be in the loot pool of the game. You might still see it in creative modes, but as for games like Battle Royale and Team Rumble, you should no longer come across it anymore. This makes some sense, because now that the Combat Shotgun has been buffed, there's really less use for this weapon.

The Charge Shotgun has always been kind of controversial, because it is a bit clunky to use in the game. You have to really know your way around the weapon to get the most out of it. In competitive play, it was particular hard to use, because ultimately the charged aspect of the weapon would rarely be useful. If you sit there charging your gun, you will likely get obliterated by your opponent. The idea of it is certainly interesting, but the execution fell a bit short for many players.

I feel like this is a good change, because it was kind of clogging up the loot pool. You will now only have the Combat and Pump Shotgun available to you, which in my view are both quality choices. This was also likely done because they are making way for some of the new Fortnitemares items in the game. This will include the Pumpkin Launcher and possibly some additional weaponry. We also can confirm that there will be brooms available that you can fly through the air with.  There should also be some candy you can eat that will give you health, shields, and buffs for your character!

Now that the Charge Shotgun is out of the game, what do you think should either be added or vaulted in the future? Let us know in the comments what you think!
